QC Materials Team Leader

The QC Materials Team Leader supervise and be an active member of the Quality Control team and laboratory, to ensure that the daily Quality Control demands of the Endeavour Way production operations and all other departments of the business are met in a timely manner. Specifically, the Quality Control demands will be focused on the sampling and testing and release of packaging components and the sampling of raw materials, providing support to the business with regards to packaging issues, complaints and NPD.


Key Responsibilities

• Management of all QC administration functions related to incoming production materials (inc: Sample lists, documents, CofA’s, SAP)

• Ensure timely sampling, testing and release of all packaging components according to specification

• Manage all incoming QC packaging samples provided by packaging suppliers

• Maintain a routine Raw Material sampling list for the QC Team to ensure the timely sampling of raw materials

• Approve analysis performed by the QC Packaging Analysts

• Working with the required technical departments for the development, application and training of scientifically valid specifications for packaging materials

• Establish specifications and standards for all new products and materials well in advance of production

• Ensure all equipment is qualified, validated and calibrated regularly

• Ensure all required tasks are performed in keeping with the principles of Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practice

• Ensure all quality data is accurately recorded, approved, provided to the QA team for review in a timely manner and is filed appropriately

• Manage the company MDR procedure working with other departments and suppliers to resolve issues

• Work with the required departments and suppliers to setup and maintain an artwork approval system to insure timely approval of required colour and artwork standards

• Work with required departments to resolve current packaging issues and support implementation of changes to current and new packaging

• Ensure all required retained samples are correctly identified and stored appropriately

• Investigate customer complaints promptly and provide recommendations as required

• Provide a problem solving facility in support of production activities

• Regular training and coaching of the QC materials team

• Support select QC Team Leader functions during holiday

• Ensure that the laboratory is maintained in a clean and tidy condition

• Liaise effectively with staff from other departments

• Involvement in other QMS responsibilities as required as part of personal development


Person Specification


Education / Qualifications

• Degree educated or above in a Science subject


Skills and Experience


• Experience of testing and establishing specifications for packaging

• A good appreciation of Good Laboratory Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice - its implementation

and compliance

• A good appreciation of Good Documentation Practice (GDP)

• Experience in identification and testing of pharmaceutical packaging materials

• An understanding of data integrity and its application in a GMP/GLP environment

• Strong report writing skills

• Hands on / active team leader and coach for the QC materials team

• Ability to plan and prioritise work according to production needs

• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite



• Experience supporting and leading regulatory audits

• Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems

• Experience of pharmaceutical production processes for tablets, liquids and creams

• Supervisory experience in an analytical laboratory role

• Strong presentation skills
