Web Designer

The Website Designer will be responsible for developing the website strategy across the Nelsons portfolio of domains to drive acquisition with a core focus on SEO. This role will work closely with the Global Digital Marketing Manager, Content Manager + local markets around our broader strategy, providing best practice guidance and be responsible for some implementation.

Nelsons is one of the UK’s leading and Europe’s longest established manufacturer of natural healthcare products. 2018 marked the first year of our 5-year strategic plan, which is set to double the business over the next 5 years. Digital reach is a fundamental driver to help deliver this growth and the website is key to this success.

Nelsons global web estate is built using Sitecore 9 and comprised of 7 global domains with several market versions under each domain and a number of international site roll outs planned over the next 3 years.


Key Responsbilities

• With support of the Global Digital Marketing Manager, develop the website strategy (across all global domains) and drive forward initiatives from the 3-year roadmap

• Drive website acquisition with a focus on SEO. Working alongside the digital content manager for onpage content optimisation and leading techinical and offsite SEO initiatives

• Deliver website best practice guides - including SEO guidance and style guides and ensure compliance across local markets.

• Project manage international site role out of new version sites and work with local markets on execution

• Work with global brand, design and our digital agency to establish website style guides and implementation

• Project manage website projects and drive forward website enhancement work (carried out with our digital agency)

• Run training on our content management system - including training new starters and updating training guides and materials

• Implement personalisation strategy using A/B tests and guide on best practice

• Some implementation (page builds, best practice implementation, new site set up) is required

• Work with digital team to enhance website analytics framework and KPI reporting with continuous improvement built into site development

Person Specification


Skills and Experience 

• Previous experience as a Web Specialist/Designer/Strategist

• Proficiency in SEO

• Experience managing a global content management system (Sitecore exp is a plus)

• Experience with personalisation platforms

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to communicate design concepts and direction clearly

• Good combination of planning/ vision and executional excellence

• Understanding of HTML, JS advantageous

• Strong knowledge of website analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Data Studio, analytics suites – Ie, SEMrush or equiv) 



• Analytical mindset and data driven to drive optimisation and improved results

• Strong autonomy and sense of initiative

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work cross-functionally across teams and markets

• Passionate about natural healthcare is a plus
